Harvey W. Barbee, Jr.

Harvey headshot_edited.jpg

Harvey has practiced law in the Triad area since 2008. Since that time, he has practiced extensively in the areas of family law, criminal law, personal injury, and civil litigation. Harvey maintains an active litigation practice and has been the lead attorney in multiple jury trials in both civil and criminal cases, including major felonies where his clients were facing up to life in prison and other serious consequences.

Attorney Barbee has also represented clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals in the areas of family law and estate litigation. In one case before the Court of Appeals, Harvey obtained a reversal of a lower court ruling that violated his client’s constitutional parental rights. The result of that case established law that is now binding in all 100 counties in North Carolina. He has also successfully argued the constitutionality of North Carolina’s alienation of affection and criminal conversation laws before the United States Federal Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Following that case, his work was featured in North Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly, a publication that is circulated among attorneys throughout the state.

Harvey believes that his strongest asset is his ability to communicate openly and honestly with his clients and to empathize with them. While he is a seasoned and experienced litigator, he also knows that it is often in his clients’ best interest to reach a negotiated settlement that helps them meet their goals without the cost and uncertainty of taking a case before the judge.

Harvey was born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, and has resided in the local area his entire life. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his undergraduate degree in political science. While in college, Harvey was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated with highest honors. He then graduated from the UNC School of Law in 2008 and was named to the Dean’s List for multiple semesters.

Throughout his legal career, Harvey has practiced in multiple counties. He is available to handle cases in the District and Superior courts in Guilford, Forsyth, Davidson, Davie, Stokes, Surry, Alamance, Randolph, and Yadkin counties.
